Potential for violence is increasing noticeably - as shown by a recent SRF report
According to a recently published SRF article, the Federal Office of Police (fedpol) warns of an increase in the willingness to use violence against state authorities. The focus is particularly on so-called state objectors - individuals or groups who do not recognise the legitimacy of state structures.
This movement has gained strength since the coronavirus pandemic. In practice, this manifests itself in the form of intimidation, threats, acts of sabotage and even violence. Municipal administrations, social welfare offices and other public bodies that are in direct contact with citizens are particularly affected.
One prominent case: a municipal employee in the canton of Zurich was abducted in 2023 by a suspected state denier. The Federal Office of Police explicitly warns of the security risk posed by these groups, some of which are armed.
