ZHAW Notfall
ZHAW NotfallThe emergency app for staff, lecturers, students, external staff and visitors to Zurich University of Applied Sciences
Install the "ZHAW Notfall" emergency app
Step 1: Create a new user account at my.e-mergency.ch/zhaw. Update your details if you have already done this before.
Step 2: Search for the “ZHAW Notfall” app in the App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei App Gallery on your smartphone and download it.
Step 3: Once the app has been successfully installed, open it and grant the required permissions:
- Notifications: When you open the app for the first time, a dialogue box will appear asking whether the emergency app is allowed to send you push notifications. Confirm this by selecting ‘Allow’. This ensures that you receive emergency alerts for your location. On iOS devices, you also have the option to allow ‘critical notifications’. Critical notifications will sound even if your smartphone is on silent or in ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode. On Android, this feature is enabled by default.
- Location: You will be asked whether the Emergency App is allowed to access your location. This feature is not used within ZHAW, so you may decline this permission.
Step 4: You will then be asked if you wish to register. Tap [Register] and enter your mobile number or your ZHAW email address in the empty field.
Step 5: Once you have entered your mobile number, you will receive a text message from the number +41 79 807 11 00 to complete your registration. Tap on the link in this text message.
If you have entered your email address, you will receive an email from info-sicherheit@notfall.zhaw.ch to complete your registration. Open the link in this email on your smartphone or click on the link on your PC to scan the personalised QR code.
Step 6: The app will open again and the content will refresh. Please wait 30–60 seconds before you can use all the app’s features. You only need to register once; the app will recognise you the next time you open it.
You can find further information and FAQs on the ZHAW intranet .
